A Columbus man has been accused of getting a 10-year-old Ohio girl pregnant. After the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and Ohio’s abortion statute went into effect, the girl traveled to Indiana to get an abortion, garnering international attention.
Who is Gershon Fuentes?
Gershon Fuentes, 27, was detained on Tuesday after police claim he admitted to raping the youngster on at least two occasions.
His last known home was an apartment on Columbus’ Northwest Side. He has since been accused of rape, a first-degree felony in Ohio.
Det. Jeffrey Huhn testified Wednesday morning during Fuentes’ arraignment that Franklin County Children Services received a referral from the girl’s mother on June 22 that alerted Columbus police about the girl’s pregnancy. According to Huhn, the girl had a medical abortion in Indianapolis on June 30.
Additionally, Huhn said that DNA from the Indianapolis clinic is being compared to samples from Fuentes and the child’s siblings to determine whether they contributed to the aborted fetus.

Judge Cynthia Ebner of the Franklin County Municipal Court ruled that the case did not call for holding Fuentes, who is thought to be illegal, without bond.
Ebner claimed that a high bond was necessary owing to Fuentes’ potential for flight and for the protection of the affected kid.
A probable cause statement claims that Huhn and Det. David Phillips took a sample of Fuentes’ saliva prior to their arrest.
Fuentes, who is being detained in the Franklin County jail, was given a $2 million bond by Ebner.
