According to the Department of Justice, a Russian national infiltrated three political organizations in the United States for more than seven years in order to propagate false information, meddle in elections, and foment unrest.

The Kremlin’s Aleksandr Viktorovich Ionov is charged with utilizing the Anti-Globalization Movement of Russia (AGMR) as a front for “U.S. The federal government accuses political parties and the American people of becoming tools of the Russian government.”

Prosecutors claim that after returning from a well-compensated trip to Russia in 2015, a leader of an unnamed Florida-based organization stated that AGMR was unmistakable “a tool of [the] Russian government,” but that it didn’t “disturb us.”

The group appears to be the African People’s Socialist Party, whose location in Florida and trip dates match up with the DOJ’s indictment. A week later, leaders acknowledged in emails that it was “more than likely” Russia was using AGMR “to sew [sic] division.”

The organisation has previously promoted events with AGMR and promotes reparations for slavery. The campaign for California’s secession led by Louis Marinelli looks to be a second group that AGMR has been grooming.
