Executive producers Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni disclosed numerous new details about The Mandalorian season 3 and the impending spinoff, Ahsoka, at the Star Wars Celebration event in Anaheim, California, including the fact that both series will launch in 2023 on Disney+.

In February, the former, starring Pedro Pascal, will be resurrected.

Katee Sackoff also addressed the stage to announce that she’ll be reprising her fan-favorite role as Bo-Katan in season 3 of The Mandalorian, hinting that she and the titular bounty hunter had unfinished business to settle. She said, “You’re in for a treat.”

She appears to play a major role in the next episodes that will take up after the events of season 2 and Mandalorian-centric episodes of The Book of Boba Fett, based on footage seen exclusively to those in the room.

Carl Weathers, who will reprise his role as Greef Karga in season 3, will also direct another episode. He described The Mandalorian as “a beautiful sandbox to play in,” saying, “I got a pretty good choice of script.”

In addition, Rick Famuyiwa, who directed two episodes of the series earlier, has been promoted to executive producer on season 3.

Bryce Dallas Howard will return to direct another episode of the series, marking her fourth time directing a Star Wars episode, according to The Hollywood Reporter, which was not mentioned during the panel. She directed two episodes of The Mandalorian and “Return of the Mandalorian” from The Book of Boba Fett earlier.

Ron Howard, executive producer and Howard’s father, expressed his pride in his daughter during a press conference for the new docuseries Light & Magic the day before. “She did fantastic,” he added, adding that as she continues to work behind the scenes on such shows, “she’s learning a lot and growing a lot.”

Meanwhile, it was confirmed that Natasha Liu Bordizzo will play a live-action version of Sabine Wren, a teenage Mandalorian warrior who initially debuted in The Clone Wars, in the upcoming film Ahsoka, which stars Rosario Dawson as the titular Force-sensitive fighter.

When she was properly introduced, the actress stated, “I know how much Sabine means to a lot of people in the room.” “I believe you’ll be quite excited about the voyage she’s about to embark on.”

While there was no formal mention of Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s character, her husband, Ewan McGregor, who played Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars franchise, spoke to ET about her role in the franchise. “It’s something we’ll always have with us.” “Now that she’s also in this environment where we’ll be able to do this kind of thing together, it should be fantastic,” he added.

Meanwhile, the show is three weeks into production, and Filoni says filming is going “very well.” He went on to say that he’s “extremely pleased” with the work accomplished thus far.

Dawson, who made a surprise cameo during the Saturday panel, is equally enthusiastic about working on the show. “It’s been incredible,” she added, adding that “bringing her to life has been an honor.”
