Sven Magnus en Carlsen is a five-time World Chess Champion and a Norwegian chess grandmaster. He has also won three World Rapid Chess Championships and five World Blitz Chess Championships. Since July 1, 2011, he has held the top spot in the FIDE world chess rankings, trailing only Garry Kasparov in time spent as the world’s highest rated player.
